Hi,

I have a 2003 C5 estate, the spare tyre has never been used it is 205 65 R15 H94 Michelin energy. This week my wife got a puncture very near home.I put the spare on went to the tyre man and he said the tyre cannot be repaired, all the rest of the tyres are Hanook 215 55 R16, I messured the diameter of the rims and they are all 17 inch except the spare which is 16 inch, so my question is can I use the new spare and what tyres should I buy?

Carry on using the spare until you replace the punctured tyre. Just replace with the same size that is already on it. Ideally the same make and type as whats on the other side if your near the wear limit on the old tyres replace as a pair. Edited by Parkesie

You have possibly not measured the rims correctly since the size is given on the tyres - R15 is 15 inch and R16 is 16 inch. There will be a sticker on one of the door pillars which gives the correct tyre sizes.

A Citroen UK brochure from 2003 gives the steel wheels as 15 inch wheels and 205/65 R15 tyres and the alloy wheels as 16 inch wheels and 215/65 R16 tyres. A 2005 brochure for the mark 2 C5 has the tyres as 215/55/R16 with no option for 15 inch wheels.

So, I would keep the 15 inch spare wheel/tyre for the spare and get new 16 inch tyres for full time use but it looks as if at some time the original tyres have been changed to lower profile 55 from 65 and unless you want to change 2 or 4 tyres for a different make, it is probably best to replace just the one with the same make - Hanook 215/55 R16. I guess you also consider using winter tyres in Denmark.
