C4VTS Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Z3 is probaly the best to ask as his has had a few of them... If it's anything like when I had a company car, he probably never sees the invoice . £235 sounds a bit steep ! :( £180 - 190 sounds about right from what I read elsewhere. Mine is only on 13,900 miles, so a few months to go yet. :) Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 I put my C5 in on 1st birthday at 11000 miles and it cost me £254. What a rip-off. 38 quid for 4.5ltrs of syth!! Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Invoice? what are they. Indeed, never seen a bill so couldn't tell you how much the services are. Mine is only 7k away from the next service, so should come around within the next couple of months. Quote
kfk Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 I put my C5 in on 1st birthday at 11000 miles and it cost me £254. What a rip-off. 38 quid for 4.5ltrs of syth!!I wouldnt dispute the cost of the oil as being excessive.......but from your previous posts i can see your obviously a practicle person with a degree of mechanical knowledge and ability. The average person doesnt want to spend time servicing/repairing their vehicle, they have no interest in purchasing tools or manuals to do the job and in a lot of cases where vehicles are under warranty they want to ensure servicing conditions are adhered to. I wont justify why a main dealer has a higher labour rate than 'fred in the shed'. But i would expect exceptional service if i was paying main dealer prices, and so should you. Every day i get calls from non franchised dealers that have had cars entrusted to them for repair....their customers believe they know what they're doing. Should i really have to tell them how to fit an alternator belt.......thats the type of question i expect of this forum.....and here i would be happy to answer it. If you wish to repair your own vehicle, thats fine, good for you, everone has there reasons, but you will always feel a garage, of any kind is charging over the top. I recently had a customer come to me asking for the price on fitting a set of brake pads......i quoted and was told i was too expensive. How much have you been quoted, i enquired, and by who? Armed with the information i set off to beat the price, and did by £5.00. Guess what, i didnt get the sale because i was too cheap.......Quote "well the pads cant be much cop at that price!" Quote
wozza Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 See i would do things like that myself but with me only keeping cars a short amount of time i would rather a dealer service them or a specialist knowing it will help it sell in the future with a full servce history. My little cinquecento i do all the work myself my C4 goes to the garage just because of the price difference of the cars the cinq being worth £600 - 800. And the C4 being around 10x that. It makes sense to have that dealer stamp in the book. No one gives a toss when buying a 12yr old car if it has a full dealer service history though but a 2 - 3 yr old car makes a difference. Quote
