Hi, i know it's one of the questions - how long is peace of string.

Got 55reg C4 1.4 petrol (49k miles on the clock). Head gasket is failing, its leaking water quite badly now (oild is fine, engine is not smoking). It's result of overheating about a year ago. Now I have dilema on either to try to repair it or just scrap it. Has put too much money so far (new water pump, new alternator, now O2 sensor in 18 months alone + wheels need balancing, door has been bent, bumber scratched, 3rd brake light's gone-broken wiring).

Any ideas what are estimate costs of that kinda job?

Thank you.

If you do it yourself then the cost of parts, possibly up to £100. If you pay somebody then possibly £300 to £400 but if the head is warped it may need skimming so this would add to the cost.

Would like to do myself but have no tools and time. Costs are about the same I looked around. Thats the trouble, you dont know if anything else needs doing until they take it in bits. Thanks
