joemac666 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Hi Guys I have a 2001 C5 estate with 160K miles on it and just got it mot'd. I bought it for next to nothing and am now going to look at an 05 C5 tourer auto. I have been reading all the horror stories and trying to judge if this is a wise move? The car apparently has a FSH with 100k miles and around £1500. It has the sat nav, phone etc. Any advice would be really appreciated and is that the going price for one of these in excellent nick? Thanks Joe Quote
coastline taxis Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Hi you didnt say what size engine it has. if its a 1.6 run away as fast as youcan. If its a 2.litre then have a bit think about it but remember the auto box dosnt have a good reputaition and is really expensive to when when it goes wrong . Quote
joemac666 Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) Thanks, its the 2.2 diesel engine. I drove it and it drives really well.....full service history, dpf refilled and timing belt just changed by the dealer. Btw, its the facelift version if that makes any difference. coastline taxis Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Sonds good. you just got to decide on the auto box now Quote
joemac666 Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 Just wondering what sort of mpg would you get with this model? I'm not sure what the brake horse is, its described as a C5 "tourer" 2.2 hdi exclusive 2005. Quote
Johndouglas Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 The "tourer" description wasn't used until the Mk3 models came along in 2008. Before that date they were only listed in the brochures as Estates. From the brochure of 2005 the spec sheets give the bhp of the 2.2 as 136, and the 2ltr engine as 138. Economy figures for the two engines in the urban cycle are 36mpg for the 2ltr and 28.8mpg for the 2.2. The combined figures are 47mpg and 39.8mpg...................................As far as the 2ltr engine is concerned, the figures quoted are fairly close to what I got with my own car. It doesn't say so in the brochure but fuel consumption may be slightly more in cars with auto boxes. Quote
