Brutusgold78 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Hi everyone. New member to the forum so hello to everyone. Just bought a 1.5 11plate C3, really pleased with it. Only question I have is that when I move the gear lever over to 'M' it doesn't seem to recognise it and continues to operate as an automatic, and any gear changes I try to action are ignored. Not that bothered about the manual aspect really, just wondering if it's a setting or could be a sign if a problem with the auto box? Much thanks in advance! Quote
paul.h Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Welcome to the forum. A quick look in the handbook shows there may be a fault so it needs looking at, especially if the car is from a garage and has a warranty. This is copied from the section on the automatic gearbox: Manual operationï† Select position M for sequentialchanging of the four gears. Push the lever towards the + sign tochange up a gear.ï† Pull the lever towards the - sign tochange down a gear.It is only possible to change from onegear to another if the vehicle speed andengine speed permit; otherwise, thegearbox will operate temporarily in automatic mode.D disappears and the gearsengaged appear in successionon the instrument panel. If the engine speed is too lowor too high, the gear selectedfl ashes for a few seconds, then theactual gear engaged is displayed. It is possible to change from position D(automatic) to position M (manual) atany time. When the vehicle is stationary or movingvery slowly, the gearbox selects gear M1automatically.The sport and snow programmes do notoperate in manual mode. Brutusgold78 Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 Thanks Paul for the response. Think you're right I'll ring the garage and get them to have a look. Just wanted to check before wasting everyone's time :-) Thanks again Quote
frajo287 Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Hi Brutusgold78I was wondering if you got any update to your issue? we have just bought an 11 plate C3 auto and it would appear to have the same issue. Cheers Quote
