Hi being new to the site and after searching through a great deal of posts on here and not finding what I needed i decided to post it here, so pardon me if i ask any thing silly as i don't do the work as disabled.

I have a C5 VTX+ 173 bhp diesel 2.2 auto estate 2007

After having the DPF problem sorted, I still have a problem of cutting out sometimes after accelerating sharply such as when joining a motorway. My garage has stated that it is the Mass Airflow Meter when he done a diag, and keeps saying he has one ordered but this has gone on for a month and I was told that this item can be cleaned. If it can does anyone know how to do this please.

 Regards Tony

You do not need a garage (and the labour cost) to replace the meter, it will be held by a jubilee type clip and 2 torx headed screws (to the air filter box) plus an electrical connector to undo. To clean it once it is off the car, spray inside it with some carburettor cleaner. If it is faulty though it may not help and a new one may be needed, but having removed it once you will know how easy it was to replace.

If you buy a new meter, note that some times low cost ones from such as ebay may not always work that well. The Citroen part no. is 1920LK but you should check this using your car VIN. From a Citroen dealer it will be about £130.
