IPJD Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Whilst cleaning out the inside of my C3 I discovered the rear passenger foot well carpet (behind the driver) absolutely sodden. The car hasn't been in the rain for some weeks and there are no obvious water stains to suggest where the water has entered. I had the windscreen replaced more than a year ago but would have thought that if poorly sealed would have leaked into the front foot well not the back! The drivers foot well carpet is bone dry. Has anyone any thoughts before the car heads to the local dealer for an expensive inspection? IPJD Quote
paul.h Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Welcome to the forum. The car would have a 3 year warranty from new, so depending on its registration date, it may still be covered and should be fixed without cost at a dealer. Has the carpet been wet for some time or has it just happened - just to help decide if it is rain from a few weeks ago, a recent washing of the car or maybe a recent spillage in the car kept secret from you. - If it is the windscreen and it leaks at the top rear edge then possibly it could run down the inside of a door pillar,- if from an open window or from a door inner seal, then it could run out of the bottom of the door card in to the car - the Xsara Picasso is known for this- check inside the boot since if full of water it could be a light or tailgate seal leaking- when using the air con and the car is parked, is there a pool of water under the car from the condensation on the cabin matrix - if not the drain may be blocked and the water may be going in to the car.- does the rear washer work - if not the pipe may be split and the water running in to the car. IPJD Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 Thanks Paul H, I will investigate further. Unfortunately the car was first registered in Jan 2011! Quote
qman3428 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 do you have air con? if so the windscreen needs to be sealed at the bottom as well as the top and sides, many installers fail to do this as they are trained it is not required. The water could have entered with rain and given no rain the front carpets have dried out leaving the pool in the rear. Of course if you dont have Aircon you can ignore this :) Quote
