ChunkyButFunky Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I posted this yesterday but think I posted it in the wrong place cos I'm daft like that. Apologies for the repost if it's not allowed! Hi, new to all this and not very technical so be gentle with me...! Had this car since Jan but recently it has started to cough and shudder on motorways when the rev counter hits 3000, effectively limiting me to 60-65 mph which means I get stuck behind lorries a lot.I've had it serviced and a new coil pack fitted but it's still the same, can anyone shed any light on this for me? Cheers Lisa Edit: should mention it's a 1.8 manual petrol. Edited by ChunkyButFunky, Yesterday, 02:26 PM. Quote
paul.h Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Welcome to the forum. I suspect you will need to have a diagnostic check to see what is wrong, otherwise you could replace parts until the faulty one is found. You could try a different petrol station in case it is a poor batch of fuel and have a look for any possible air leaks/loose connections on the engine air supply ducting. What parts were replaced in the service - did it include a fuel filter (if the car has one), spark plugs, air filter and a clean of the throttle body and plate ? Does the problem occur at 3000 rpm in any gear ? Is the temperature guage normal, does it happen with a cold engine ? Quote
