MostafaaaliM Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Hello everyone, I wish to find an answer, it's my first Citroen C5, model 2007, I bought it new on 2008 and kept maintenance procedures on time even for oil exchanging. I was on vacation in Egypt, and was parking my car in Saudi Arabia where I work. I came back after three weeks and started the car to change the parking place and it was OK. Since I have another small car for work, I kept using it while my C5 parked for another week. Today morning liked to drive my C5 but the remote key did not open the car's lock, I opened the car with the hard key, then tried to start it. nothing happened in the first minute, the screen does not show the normal pre-start data like "OIL OK", nothing at all. I removed the key and tried 4 times then in pre-start stage of the key movement suddenly the small screed showed "Oil OK" and the main front screen showed the normal data. I thought that will be OK. I tried to complete the the key movement to start the engine. the engine did not start and I got this message on the main screen: " Breaking System Fault" I wish to find help, what does this mean? and what I have to do especially that Citroen maintenance shop is not nearby, and I need to start the car to load it on maintenance truck. Kindly advise, Mostafa Sultan Quote
paul.h Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Welcome to the forum. You may find that the car battery needs charging. I find that if our C5 is not used for more than about 3 weeks the battery goes flat due to the small use by the alarm and then when unlocking the bsi starts and the suspension height is adjusted which all help to flatten the battery. This also happened on our previous C5. Also starting the car for a short trip such as moving it, will not put back in the battery enough to keep it charged and only makes it worse. The braking system fault message may go once the car is started but it should not prevent it being started. First though, check the battery voltage using a meter or the gauge on the dash to see if it is lower than normal - it should be about 12.5 volts but if less than about 12.3 volts it will not be enough to start the car and needs either a jump start or the battery charging. Once the car is started, if the braking message does not clear let us know. Quote
