jussal73 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Help!! Went to unlock my c5 using blip key fob and it seems like the battery is now flat in the fob and it wont open the car. Tried using my spare but the same problem! If I try to unlock the car by using key in the door lock will it open and start or will it just set off the alarm? Also if I get new a new key fob battery will it need re-programming? Quote
paul.h Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Welcome to the forum. You have not said which year C5 you have, but usually using the key in the door lock to open the car may set off the alarm but it will go off when the key is used in the ignition lock/switch and the engine is started. If the fob battery is starting to need replacing, you may find it needs to be held nearer the car for the remote to unlock the doors. On our 2003 C3, there would be occasions when the remote would not work and this was probably caused by radio interference from such as a mobile phone, a mobile phone mast, an amatuer radio aerial mast, portable debit/credit card readers, domestic alarms - to list a few of the things that are known to do this and it is mentioned in the handbook for our 2007 C5. After the car was umlocked using the key and started and moved to a different location or left until later, it would behave normally. In your handbook it will tell you how to replace the key fob battery and if needed, how to re-initialise the fob. In our C5 handbook it says this is done by switching on the ignition and immediately pressing the fob lock button until it operates the action required which may take ten seconds. Except when re-initialising, the remote can not function while the key is in the ignition. I have deleted your similar post in the C5 section to keep all replies together. Quote
