Hi all We've had our lovely Berlingo for a year now and love it. But we're a bit mystified by the meaning of some of the central display numbers and symbols activated by pressing a button on the end of the steering column lighting stalk. I can't find an explanation of these anywhere. Can someone point me to this?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

The wiper stalk button on our Citroens changes the display of the trip computer or if held in resets it back to zero. Usually 4 different screens - average mpg since it was last reset, current mpg over last few minutes, distance covered since the last time it was reset - I reset this at the start of a trip to see how far we have gone, miles left to the fuel running out but it is based on the current mpg so will vary a lot on how you are driving.

If you do not have  a handbook, these can be read/copied/printed for cars from about 2007 on the service.citroen site. You may need to select your language and then click on handbook pack  http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres You can also register here to see the parts diagrams as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club.

Thanks - that makes sense and is very clear - except for one I'm not sure of. It's a lollipop image and a car image with arrows from the lolly to the car and then in from the front of the car, with numbers underneath. These have been stuck at 6214 for a while now. Another forum I found says this is the mileage since the last service - 6214 seems to be roughly correct, but if that's the case I do wonder how come it stays at 6214?

Unfortunately this info is not in my handbook and though I've looked on that site these display items don't seem to be in that one either.

I'm wondering if I'm making some sort of mistake in where I'm looking?

You need to reset it to zero by holding the button in for a few seconds. It only goes to a max of 9999 km and then stops going up, this equates to about 6214 miles. It has nothing to do with the servicing.

This is from our C5 handbook under the section on the trip computer (found from the index):

- the lollipop and car image is the distance travelled since the last reset

- a lollipop and car and fuel pump is the average fuel consumption since the last reset

- a fuel pump on its own is the instantaneous fuel consumption and this will jump about a lot depending on how the car is being driven

- a car and a fuel pump is the range before the fuel runs out but is based on the instantaneous fuel consumption so can vary depending on how the car is being driven

- a car on its own is the average speed since the last reset.

You may find this in your handbook under 'In Car Technology, Autoradio, Trip computer' - at least I did in one of the ones on the Citroen site but it was not that good at explaining it.

Many thanks - I've got it now.

And yes as you say it is in the manual, though in a form that means you can only find it and then understand it if you already know it's there and, well, already understand it.

And there is no index - just a contents page. But given the obscurity of the manual I wouldn't expect an index to help much.

On the other hand it's a great car.

Thanks again
