steve_c47 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Hi I have just bought a C5 HDI VTR after my Picasso was written off by a stolen car. I bought the C5 without a radio & I have bought 1 from my local scrapyard. However after fitting it the radio works but its got a constant bleeping noise. Does it need to be recoded by the main stealer? The radio was out of another C5. Any help would be appreciated. Quote
paul.h Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Welcome to the forum. Citroen radios are coded to the original car and should not work on another unless decoded or recoded so whether the bleeping is due to coding I do not know. A dealer should be able to provide the radio code if you know the VIN of the original car and the code of your car. There are others who may be able to recode the radio than a dealer or it may be possible using Lexia diagnostic equipment and some members have said they may be able to help with diagnostics - see the C5 technical section pinned post - Diagnostic Help. steve_c47 Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 Thank you for your reply. I'll try & get the info from the donor car. Other than that i'll prob change the radio for a different one. Quote
seefive Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 A radio taken from another c5 will work without coding, but will beep constantly until recoded in line with the vin number of its host car Quote
M0JFK Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Update for those looking for this problem like I did just recently. A radio taken from another car will bleep through the speaker over the top of the radio/cd audio. You will either have to take it to the dealer to reprogram it or to a third party radio repair shop who will have the tools required to divorce the radio completely (scrub the vin encoded in it) so a VIN is not required. Or get someone with a Lexia programmer to type in YOUR VIN over the top of the replacement VIN number. I used my Lexia to do this under the Radio Post selection from the Lexia software menu and takes about 5 minutes to do once the tool and software is set up and running. Quote
