Hi, I'm new to this group, I'm a mechanic, and I've just bought a c8 2.0 hdi non fap.

I bought it with a known fault, power didn't come In until about 2800rpm, as if someone flicked a switch at that engine speed, power was unstable, sometimes plenty of power at high revs, others hardly any.

When cold the engine would struggle to go above 3000 rpm, and struggle to get over 30mph.

The guy selling the car had been told by his local citroen garage that it needed a new egr valve and throttle pedal at a cost of nearly £800.

I bought the car at night from the local paper, it was dark when I test drove and checked the car over, so I took a gamble on it.

I plugged in the diagnostic scanner, no codes were stored other than p0000, which is the check code and so ignored.

Ok, so if anybody has similar issues, here's what I found, and if yours is the same, a fix costs just a few pence.

Follow the pipe that goes from the mass air flow sensor attached to the air filter box, it goes down to a plastic hard pipe and into the turbo, the join between the two pipes had come apart, held on with a plastic cable tie around them, it's not a good design and as far as I can see will give issues in a regular basis.

The fix, discard the original cable tie, push the pipe back on, and then obtain a cv boot fitting kit from a motor factors, use the metal band to secure the 2 pipes together where the cable tie was around the outer plastic pipe, and it should never come loose again.

The car once this was secured drives like a new car, plenty of power, and runs nice when cold.

Hope this helps someone out.
