Peterv Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 New problem, when starting the car cold it idles a bit rough and I hear a ticking noice from the electric box on the throttlebody? It runs rough about 30-45 seconds and then it runs smooth and the ticking stops exactly at the same time the idle goes smooth!? Doesn't sound normal to me, is it servicable? Quote
paul.h Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I am not sure about this so hopefully others may also offer advice. The ticking noise may just be the stepper motor adjusting the position of the throttle plate to control the idle speed. You had previously stated the throttle plate and body is clean without any carbon build up, so there may be nothing wrong with this but the rough idle may be caused by something else. Quote
MikeLane Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Timing chain slack (stretched) and/or hydraulic chain tensioner waiting for oil pressure to build ? Quote
paul.h Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 From other posts the car is a 2004 1.4 petrol 75 bhp engine so it will have a timing belt and not a chain. Quote
