Afteradvice Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Hi, My missus is looking into buying a C3 from a private seller. When having a look around the car we noticed tape on a part of the engine which the current owner wasn't able to explain as it was there before he bought it aswell. Any chance someone could shed some light on what part of the engine this is and if there is a fault how much it could cost to repair? Picture attached is a quick grab off google not the actual car, i've been pretty hopeless trying to work this out. Thanks in advance. http://i60.tinypic.com/254wk85.jpg Quote
paul.h Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Welcome to the forum. If the tape is black electrical tape it is wrapped around the wiring to keep it together, but over time it may lose its stickyness and come unravelled. In the picture you can see some wires going across the top of the rectangular black plastic ignition coil and these are wrapped in the tape. When the coil is removed to replace the spark plugs the wiring has to be unclipped and the tape can suffer. If that is all it is, then wrap the tape back around the wiring and then no need to worry about it. In this Technical section there is a pinned topic of Common Problems which are worth a look at.
