tims84 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Hi, My car had its 20,000 mile service yesterday - 2013 Citroen C1. It was dropped off to my place of work after the work had been completed. As I went to drive home in the evening there was a noticeable difference to the feel of the clutch pedal. It is difficult to explain but the pedal now goes down very easily without offering any resistance until it is very low to the floor, at which point it then feels like it should. Prior to this the clutch pedal would need a little more pressure. I am aware that in some cars having the brake fluid changed can lead to a change in the feel of the clutch pedal, however when I called Citroen they told me that the C1 has a cable clutch, therefore nothing that they did as part of the service would have caused this. I have driven the car for just over 20,000 miles so am fully aware of what it felt like before the car was picked up yesterday compared to what it felt like after being dropped back off to me. Any ideas? Thanks Tim Quote
tims84 Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 Update - I think what I was supposed to say is that since my car was dropped off to me the amount of free play in the clutch pedal has increased significantly. Is there anything as part of a routine 20k service that would lead to this? I'm told by Citroen that there shouldn't have been. Quote
paul.h Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Has the height of the clutch pedal above the floor changed and has the height of the pedal at which the clutch bites changed ? Did the garage say if anything had been done to the pedal or the cable, such as adjustment or greasing/oiling ? If you look at the pedal under the dash, does it look normal and rests against the stop screw above it ? The pedal height can be adjusted by a bolt above the pedal and the free play can be adjusted at the gearbox end of the cable. The pedal height perpendicular to the floor at the mid point on top of the rubber should be 135 to 145 mm. This is adjusted by a stop screw above the pedal lever. The amount of free play by pushing down the pedal until resistance is felt should be 18 to 28 mm below this and is adjusted at the gearbox end of the cable by a large nut (not the one at the very end of the cable). The pedal biting point should be at least 25 mm above the floor. Quote
