wilson002 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Hi has anyone had the problem of cold air coming from underneath the steering column? Heating is on full belt but you can feel the coldness on your legs.Any ideas not much of a mechanic.cheers Quote
paul.h Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I have noticed it on our 2007 and previous 2004 C5 but other than redirecting the air flow have not done anything about it. Quote
citrophile Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I had a similar problem a few years ago in the days when I still had my C5 serviced at the dealer. I spoke to the main mechanic chappy (who I always found to be spot on with stuff) and he said that occasionally you do get a slight draught from behind the steering column and it is to do with the position of the aircon/heater unit and how it controls airflow. Apparently it isn't a problem on left hand drive cars because the glove box is in the way. Essentially he said that Citroen were aware of it but it was not considered a "fault" so nothing was being done about it. In my experience it didn't happen that often so I wasn't overly bothered. paul.h Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Looking at the parts diagrams, the flap unit that directs the air from either outside or the inside to the heater is behind the dash around the steering column area. If this leaks a bit so outside air can go from outside and direct in to the cabin then it would not be heated. If this is the source of the problem then if the blower is on, any leakage would be sucked into the heater so the problem would not occur. If I remember I will give it a try and report back. Quote
citrophile Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Ah yes Paul, I think you're right as I remember seeing that unit when I removed my dash to replace the heater/ aircon unit. Quote
