I was going to top up my antifreeze and I have a gismo that test it, just open the rad filler dip it in, sounds simple.

I lift up the bonnet and look for the rad cap, 10 min's later, still looking for the filler cap.

Is there a rad filler cap or am I going bonkers.

Car is 2001 2lt diesel estate.

There is a coolant expansion tank on the driver's side wing with a cap to undo and not one on the radiator. To check the fluid level the plastic wing cover may need to be removed (lift up the button in the clips and then pull off the clips, plus possibly a torx head screw at the front end). This will/should be in the handbook and will be in the Haynes manual.

I am  not sure about your car year, but on later ones Citroen use a long life OAT anti freeze that is a pale yellow colour. If you need to top up the level, you should check that you use a compatible anti freeze. I replaced the anti freeze on our 2003 C3 with dealer supplied Citroen Glysantin G33 anti freeze but this is a blue colour. I did not fully flush out the old anti freeze and later some grease appeared in the expansion tank which may have been a result of different anti freezes. So if you need toadd any, first try mixing a bit of old and new to see if there is any compatibility problem and if so, it may be better to drain the old out and do a flush before adding the new.

Thanks for the advise, I did see a screw cap on the drivers side, will investigate more tomorrow.

I seem to have 2 large containers of anti freeze in my shed so will take your advise, I'm just a bit paranoid since having to give up my garage.

Thanks again,  Reg
