Hrbl Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Hi, I have just purchased a 2002 Citroen C5. Main annoying niggle is that I cannot get the control to work to change any settings on the screen. (It has the colour screen, top centre of dash) I am stuck in French and kms. Clock 0.00. The dealer said just before I collected the car he replaced the battery for a new one. I have tryed disconnecting the battery again and leaving the car ignition in the M position for 30 minutes as the handbook describes. The controller is down by the handbrake near the suspension switches. I have three buttons, mode, menu, escape plus knob that turns and presses down. The buttons work, the knob presses down and changes the screen, BUT I can't scroll through the menus (the knob turns but nothing happens). Thought maybe a quick fix, knob broken, so bought a replacement unit off of ebay, however once fitted exactly the same problem - menu, mode, escape works but no scrolling. This means I am stuck in French, can't scroll menu to change to English, miles etc. or change time. Can't access anything. Is there anything else that controls the scrolling on the display, i.e. dashboard buttons, knobs? Is it software? Is it related to Sat Nav, I see a lot of posts referring to issues. My Sat Nav is not working, no disk in unit to right of steering wheel, not too worried, would just love to have the basics working, AND no more messages in French on the screen. Cheers in advance for any help. Quote
paul.h Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Welcome to the forum. On most Citroen's the menu button on the radio is used to change the language and settings. Quote
Hrbl Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 HiThanks for quick reply.I have the RDS Compact Disc Audio System. (Pictured on the very back page of the "C5 Nav and on-board Comp Radio" Manual)There isn't a Menu button. Quote
paul.h Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Our 2007 C5 has a dash mounted radio/satnav that has a rotating button but I have not seen one with controls near the handbrake. Just some guesses but probably already tried: On the controller near the handbrake, have you tried holding down the menu button for a few seconds to see if it brings up anything. Also using the rotating knob, once on a screen, if you push down on it to select that screen, does it then bring up further options that you could rotate through and select by pushing down again ? In the end you could try a Citroen dealer to do a diagnostic on the radio system but perhaps you should go back to the dealer you bought the car from first as a not working or warranty item. It is also possible the replacement controller switch if not new could have the same fault as the old one. If it is Citroen part no. 656390 then a new one is about £66 from a Citroen dealer and just the knob if part no. 656361 is about £6. Quote
