weanspapa Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 hello everyone, new boy in class. Will write up my history later. I'm looking to repair a 2006 c5 2 ltr. hdi vtr+ auto which might require an engine. Have been quoted £1500 for supplying and fitted with new timing belt and water pump, serviced with 6months warranty (transferable) This is from Salford Auto Salvage. Does anyone have any knowledge of this company or any other engine supplier please? kind regards and seasons greetings Robert Jones Quote
paul.h Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Welcome to the forum. I can not help with your question but do you already have the car and why do you think it may need a replacement engine ? You may need the VIN of the car from which the engine is removed for future parts and if you have its number plate reg you may be able to get some history of that vehicle if the engine supplier can not provide it. As a minimum you need to know if it is a runner, its mileage, its service history and that it is the same power output as your old engine. How much of the engine is going to be replaced ? If the engine includes the fuel injectors these may need to be programmed to your ecu but I am not sure about this. Also consider checking and if needed replace the turbo. Quote
madmadmax Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) well lets start by asuming that the mecanics don't know what thay are talking about or are just not sure about it and ask why are thay saying it needs a new engine? so whats the fault and how did it manifest it self? if its just snaped the timing belt just put a new one one and see, the rockes are desined to brake in the event of pistion contaced so can be replaced if you dont mined a trip over some hills and it will make it you can bring it to he to have a look at i am in sheffield Edited December 23, 2014 by madmadmax Quote
