Central Locking Failure

Hi

 The battery on my Xsara 2002, 2.0HDI, 5door started to fail,when i connected a new battery i heard a gong type sound and the central locking no longer operates from the remote key fob. Would be most pleased for  any info

Maybe the remote battery needs replacing or the remote needs initialising to the car (the procedure will be in the handbook) or maybe the car battery was disconnected/reconnected too quickly so the bsi did not shutdown/restart properly. For the latter you could try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery again but allow a minute after doing anything such as opening/closing a door before removing the battery negative lead, then wait a few minutes, then reconnect the lead, wait a minute, put the key in the ignition, wait a minute, turn the key to the accessory postion and wait a minute, turn the key so the dash lights up and wait a minute and then start the engine, reset the windows anti pinch (take each one down and then up) then reset the clock/date.

Getting back to you, unfortunately I did not get a positive result ,thank you once again for your input at least i can lock up manually so i'll settle for that
