devoidx Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Hi! I have a 2009 C4 with 1.6eHDi engine, over the last week I noticed that it's been a bit 'odd' when starting in that the engine almost stops/stalls straight away unless I blip the throttle slightly. Occasionally it's taken a couple of goes for me to start. I put this down to the cold weather and thought nothing more of it. Yesterday I started hearing a 'knocking' noise as I drive - it would increase in frequency the more I revved the engine. When I got home from work I popped open the bonnet to have a listen and from there, the best I can describe the noise is a 'panting' sound. Anyone have any clue what this could be (and more importantly, how much it might cost to get it fixed!) Thanks, in advance, Tony Quote
paul.h Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Welcome to the forum. A panting or chuffing sound could be from a seal leak of a fuel injector to the cylinder head with the noise being escaping exhaust gases. If you remove the engine cover, have a look at each injector to see if you can hear the noise and also for any signs of oil/carbon at the base of them. If it is this then the sooner it is sorted the less chance of the injector becoming stuck/difficult/impossible to remove. Quote
