Glynnpt Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 My wifes 2006 1.9turbo diesel has died once more. It appears to be the tubo on the engine. She had this trouble once before. I think she took it to a duff garage and not the specialist I trusted to do the work. Is this a problem with these engines? I thought the Citroen diesels were the best, (apart from stuck fuel injectors!). Anyway, she has been told that once there starts to be trouble with the turbo, there will continue to be trouble with the turbo, even if a new one is fitted!! Is she likely to get any change from £1000 to get a new one fitted, and is the new turbo likely to fail Quote
paul.h Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Welcome to the forum. Have you got the engine size correct, it is usually the 1.6 hdi turbos that have a reputation for failing ? Quote
Porsche430 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Never had much experience with turbos on 1.9 Diesels. Can you give some more info on what the engine is exactly, DW8, DW8B or XUD engine. Keep in mind not all of these engines had turbos as far as i'm aware. Maybe you can post the last 8 of the VIN and I can confirm for you. As Paul H said, 1.6 DV6 engines are prone to destroying turbos. Quote
