aspire_helen Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Just checked the additive level. It's still full, none has been used since I topped it up to full 40000 miles ago. In fact, I now suspect no additive has been used for the last 60000 to 70000. But, no warnings and no problems. What's going On?! How can the "system" not notice that no additive is being used? Suppose I will have to add it manually from now on as I will certainly not pay for a new additive pump or additive ECU. 37.5ml per 60ltr tank full by 50ml syringe. It might seem laborious, but I used to add 2 stroke oil to my motorcycle tank so no problem there . Quote
Porsche430 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Can you advise on what type of engine you have, what model of C5? Perhaps post last 8 of VIN number to me. Be aware that the vehicle uses very small amounts of additive at a time. Generally, if there was a fault recorded the car would have let you know! Very common to see the term "DPF Fault" on the dash. Cheers. Quote
paul.h Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 If eolys has not been going in and the dpf has not blocked up, then maybe the previous owner had the dpf removed or drilled through and the additive dosing removed from the software. Check the inside of the end of the exhaust - on our cars with a dpf it has been clean metal and no sign of soot build up. The car is a 2001 2.2 hdi C5. Quote
Sixchannel Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I have a Mk3 59 plate 2.0 170 Tourer.I'd be interested to know how to check the Eolys level. Quote
paul.h Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I think the official method is to drain it out and see how much you have collected with approximately 3 litres being full and at about 80k miles it should be used up. Quote
aspire_helen Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Paul, yep it has a citroen fitted dpf. The car's second dpf changed at 73000 miles, now at 152,000 miles. Quote
aspire_helen Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Porsche430, 2001 2.2hdi dw12ted4 using dpx42/eolys. I shall get around to removing the cat/dpf and check their substrates for thermal damage if there has been no additive to reduce the exhaust gas temperature during active regeneration.. Until last year, I drove at least 250 motorway miles weekly so I wonder if passive regeneration has been enough to clean the filter.. I think it would be helpful if the car informed the driver when active regeneration was taking place.. Quote
MikeLane Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 As I understand it Eolys is added to the fuel tank whenever the filler cap is opened/closed. This would mean that "passive" cleaning/regeneration of the DPF is happening all the time the car is being driven (and the temperature is high enough for Eolys to do its thing?). I'm not sure what happens when "active" regeneration is activated using a Lexia. Does the ECU just cause extra fuel to be burnt and hence more Eolys forced into the DPF? Quote
