alanj Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Hi. I have purchased a 2003 citroen xsara picasso 2.0hdi that stalls at random times and stutters a bit before stalling. I've connected a diagnostic reader to it and it comes back with a fault p1352 ignition malfunction a primary coil. Could this be the reason I am having problems? Citroën want £119 to plug a diagnostic machine in. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks Quote
arm987 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Am interested in this, what tester did you use and from where and how much.A bit of general info about this will,be appreciated,I would really love to have but wonder if it will be of practical use.I have two of these beasts one 2006 and 2014 models. Both models have the 1.6D engine.By the way the latest one is a cracker have really fallen in love with it hook line and sinker!Just thinking, the 2003 must have a large mileage? Quote
alanj Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 Hi. I used a maxi scan ms309 ObdII £12 eBay. Car is coming up to 90,000 miles. Great little car just worried about it cutting out on school run. Quote
paul.h Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 An internet search gave the following so the P1352 code on a diesel appears to refer to the glow plugs not working rather than an ignition coil on a petrol.'P1352 - Ignition coil A Primary circuit Malfunction / SID 801- Pre/Post heating relay circuit - Relay & Pre-Heat plugs not controlled' So this fault code will not be the problem but in colder weather it may be a bit difficult to start. You could check the crank sensor and possibly cam sensor since these can cause the engine to stop once warmed up but then let it run again after cooling. Eventually they will prevent the car starting. I do not think the crank sensor gives a fault code but when one of the 2 cam sensors on our C3 failed a fault was given and the car went in to limp mode. You could check with a meter for a resistance across the pins on the sensors which may show if they are ok. The crank sensor is located at the top of the bellhousing and the cam sensor at the timing belt end of the cam cover. A reader that gives some engine live data may be of more use than just a code reader. This one from Gendan is £39 https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html Quote
