nd irish Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) hi all, please help, my car is an citreon xsara Picasso exclusive automatic 2.0 petrol 36133miles, a week ago it started showing atomatic gearbox fault, it would show this message for about 3 seconds, driving along you would feel a severe jolt and realise it was possibly stuck in gear also it was overrevving, it happened in the fast lane of m6, doing just 57mph did I brick it,eventually was able to pull it over to hardshoulder, aa came out plug in dianostic's and confirmed error message present was p1671 cruse control06 intermittent fault which could not be determentbut nothing to confirm any messages about gearbox, was transported to Halfords in Stafford they have had car since last Tuesday. checked every thing and can't replicate fault either by dianostic;s or physical test drive.I will at some time get this piece of crap back. but even with 12 outriders and an ambulance with a supply of my blood type will I ever use this car again , lol I have owned 4 of this manuel model before 1 c3 never a problem.DESPERATE FOR HELP BOUGHT A DASH CAM AND CAUGHT THIS HAPPENING AND CLEARLY SHOWED MESSAGE ON DASH, IT HAS BEEN SHOWN TO HALFORDS IT DIDN'T HELP Edited January 31, 2015 by nd irish Quote
paul.h Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Welcome to the forum. Did you have cruise control on at the time ? It could be something such as a brake pedal switch or possibly a communication problem with the gearbox or a problem with the gearbox controls. You may be better at a Citroen dealer with their own diagnostic equipment than Halfords, so it may be worth asking about getting your car to one. If you have Relay with the AA or if you tell them the garage they took you to can not fix the problem, they may transport your car for you. Quote
Porsche430 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Automatic gearboxes are complicated buggers, so would advise taking it straight to Citroen. Quote
nd irish Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 hi again, good news for me , my problem has been solved thanks to main Citroen dealer W R DAVIES Stafford they were brilliant, done a diagnostic's first to identify problem, which was oil sensor switch in gearbox, replaced cost£456.00 plus £58.00 for test on their lexia system, can't praise them enough.FOOTNOTE,S.C CARSALES FENTON STOKE ON TRENT, STEER CLEAR BIGGEST CROOXXX YOU COULD EVER BUY FROM,HAD CAR 8 WEEKS 3 OFF THE ROAD,NOW ITS JUSTCRUISE CONTROLWINDERSCREENAND GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT OTHER BODGES IS GOING TO BE FOUND,ALSO SMALL MENTION FOR MOTONOVA FINANCE STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUNCH, hope this helps Quote
nd irish Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 do apoligize thanks for any replies to previous post Quote
paul.h Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 That is a big bill for a car you have not had long, no wonder you are upset. When you had the diagnostic check did the Citroen dealer find anything on the cruise control ? This could be something simple such as a fault with a brake pedal switch. A search on P1671 brought this up on the BBA reman site:P1607/P1671For MM6LP I have found this fault caused by a software issue in the BSI. A hard reset for the BSI may sort it out temporarily. So you could try a battery disconnection/reconnection to see if this clears the fault. What is wrong with the windscreen ? Quote
nd irish Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 when wr davies STAFFORD done diagnostic's it didn't show a fault for cruise control. by trying to operate speed limiter or cruise it won't operate, in any way ,the winderscreen in different light you can quite clearly see a bloody big for sale sign and the outline of old residue, took car to autoglass and national winderscreens stafford couldn't remove it with any magic stuff both firms were really helpful, so looks like a replacement, so that's why I can honestly say through my experience'S C CARSALES DUKE ST FENTON STOKE ON TRENT AND NOT FORGETTING MOTANOVA FINANCE, ARE 2 FIRMS TO BE AVOIDEDAT YOUR PERIL; Quote
nd irish Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 also forgot to mention while they done work on gearbox, a full software up was done, I have promised motanova finance should anything else go wrong in relation to these problems I will let them collect the vehicle, but it will be in the same condition with the same faults as day I got it can't say how but it will be returned to status quo, irrespective of the bad credit rating I will get Quote
paul.h Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 For windscreen cleaning on inside/outside, I have used all sorts such as - damp cloth sometimes with a bit of washing up liquid, de-icer in a tissue, white spirit/turps. Has the car dealer offered any help with the problems ? Quote
nd irish Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 hi again in an effort to help anybody not make the same mistake I made, within the first week took car back, it absolutely stank of oil. and of course to bring to dealers attention, gearbox error message, solution, offer was to leave car in the hands of the crooxxx, got it back next day obnoxious arsxxxx said no fault but had found fault with headlights and cruise control, he told me he had already booked holiday for 3 weeks, and it would be difficult to get it booked in to garage( please note garage,) but as soon as he returned, it would be sorted, gave him the benefit of doubt after all he had give me his solem promise it would be done, yes what a croc of shxx, so following week I bought dashcam, it wasn't even on a day and caught error message, so phoned up and spoke to the biggest piece of ***oops*** who was looking after the sales while owner on holiday, he said he would arrange immediate pick up of car, and get it sorted, each day I phoned and was told I would get a call back, yea you guessed nothing, so phoned 3 rd day he said he could not find a firm to pick up car , he wasn't able to spend money while owner was away, solution he told me to get car to corner of my road and get the AA to transport it up to him,IN COURSE OF CONVERSATION THE SLIMEY LITTLE SHIX DROPPED OUT HE WAS THE DEALERS MECHANIC, AND THE GARAGE WAS THERE AND NOT AS I WAS TOLD SOMEWHERE ELSE IN STOKE ON TRENT,BUT STILL DROPPED OUT THERE WAS A PROBLEM AS HE COULD NOT SPEND ANY MONEY ON CAR , AS OWNER WAS IN CUBASO THATS WHY I IMEADIATLY GOT IN TOUCH WITH MOTONOVA FINANCE SENT EMAILS WHICH SURPRISE SURPRISE THEY NEVER RECIEVED,PHONED EVERY DAY , YOU GUESSED WE WILL PHONE BACK, MY ARSETHERE'S A PICTURE FORMING HERE, DON'T REALLY KNOW WHO'S LYING AND WHO'S THE CROOXXEVERY SUBSTANCE KNOW TO MAN HAS BEEN TRYED TO GET THE RESIDUE OFF THE SCREEN BY MYSELF, A COUPLE OF HIGHLY ESTABLISHED COMPANIE'S DID I MENTION SC CARSALES DON'T TRUST MAIN DEALERS OR THE AA, AND AS A LAST RESORT WAS ADVISED TO USE EDGE OF STANLY BLADE OR USE CIF, CAUSE AS FAR AS PRO'S CONCERNED IT WAS A REPLACEMENT JOB, BY THE WAY AS OFF TODAY ANOTHER PROBLEM FOUND, SO FULL AA CHECK ORDERD TO SEE THE FULL EXTENT TO THE ISSUS'S ON THIS CAR I AM IN PROCESS OF CONTACTING LAST OWNER FOR INFORMATION, AND ALSO CONTACTING DVLA TO RECHECK MILAGE, SOMETHING MIGHT COME TO LIGHT, EVEN IF IT ONLY BRINGE SC CARSALES TO THEIR ATTENTION, ALSO WILL USE MEDIA TO HIGHLIGHT THESE 2 COMPANIES Quote
paul.h Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 The more you tell us the worse it gets. If you have used a credit card to part pay for the car then the credit card company is also liable. You can check the MOT history which includes the mileage on-line without needing to contact DVLA. Just need the MOT test number from the certificate or the V5C number.https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history-vehicle Quote
nd irish Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 hi Moderator thanks for great link to check this piece of French xxxx out , new problem in detail, after coming off m6 stoke I thought it was the waggon behind," binding brakes", there was an almighty squealing, as I came to island at hanford car was reluctant to pull off, eventually got it across junction pulled into lay bye, did a visual all round felt by hand all wheels and tyres etc, stone cold, so pulled off aprox 2 miles at jun a50 it was sounding like 1 of the bearing had disintergrated, nope 1 mile to daughters, phoned wr davies for advice , only way was to inspect internally ,booked car in , but then like an idiot I cancelled as car was ok 1 week on car is now in Citroen dealers to find cause, I think my little French piece of xxxx is going to see a lot of their garage, PREVIOUS OWNERS HAVE BEEN MOST HELPFULL IN IDENIFYING ANY PROBLEMS THAT CAR WAS SOLD WITH, LAST ONE IS A COMPANY WITH A BLACK HORSE,I AM( BANKING) THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SELLING CAR WITH SAID FAULTS,BUYERS BEWARE ,iwill update as it happens perhaps this will help someone, make them aware and carefull what looks like the bargain of the century might turn into a nightmare, especially if you buy from s,c motsales fenton stoke on trent, and use a firm like motanova finance to purchase a carANYBODY WANT TO BUY A GOOD CAR, WOULD I LIE TO YOU LOL Quote

paul.h Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Good luck with this. Did you check if the mileage ties up with the previous MOT tests, things like rear brake shoes would normally last for around 70k miles, not the 36k miles you mentioned previously. Quote

paul.h Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Probably when trying the switches, you may have switched on the cruise control and it was last set at 50 mph, so the car then went to 50 mph. Quote
nd irish Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 hi thanks for reply , for 5mth and 3weeks exactly to the day, never ever worked, not even speed limiter, also in this area intermittent behaviour on stalks, a local garage that done diagnostic's did comment the main ecu, contols every command????? , and could be the cause, funny enough on the night AA transported car back home, while plugging in his diagnostic machine, he went to have a look under bonnet, he found a few nuts lying behind engine cover, there was 3 in total, had someone done some work or done something???/ I had completely forgot about this,I really appreciate some feedback, even fox moulder and scully ,lol couldn't tell me what the history of this car, or what as been done prior to sale.thanks again Quote
nd irish Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 I really can't or don't know if all my ramblings have helped 1 other car buyer ,to avoid what has happened buying this car, that was my only goal to make people aware, cause I am conscious we just can't criticize a firm, or firms, if its venting anger, or being malicious, ,but if a person has video, photographs, receipts, and a clear conscience then we all have the right to print the truth, I will stop this for now, as I am taking it to court, Quote
