Is your car fitted with one?

A box is wired into the BSI and changes the programming, electronically limiting the vehicle to whatever is chosen.

sorry to respond late. I'm not sure but there is a speed limiter button that i press and it shows a yellow light on it and nothing shows on the dashboard screen.

I've never known a aftermarket speed limiter that can be changed on the fly, unless your C3 has cruise control which, in Citroen's, also has a speed limiter function.

Sounds like you have a very, very aftermarket unit. Speed limiters that are hard wired into the BSI don't ever show up on the dash. Because they are usually fitted to commercial vehicles or cars owned by a company and the driver is simply made aware of the speed limiter. Test your speed limiter up to 70 MPH and see how you get on. If it limits the speed then you know you have a speed limiter! ...

You may have got the wrong control, have you looked in your handbook ? If you do not have a handbook, ones from 2007 can be seen/printed/saved from the service.citroen site http://service.citroen.com/ddb/ you may need to select your language.

In the one for a 2007 to 2008 C3 it has the speed limiter control is located under the steering wheel at the left side, I found it by looking in the contents page. At the side of the radio is an overspeed alert activation switch and it gives this:

Overspeed alert

Function for keeping to a desired maximum speed.

A short press on control

E activates this function (the warning lamp lights up).

To pre-set or modify the desired alert speed, when you have reached this

speed, give a long press on control

E (located on the dashboard central

panel) until you hear a confi rmation gong.

An audible signal indicates that the programmed speed is being exceeded.

To cancel

Give another short press on control

E to deactivate this function (the warning

lamp goes out).

Note:

The overspeed alert only functions for speeds above around 30 km/h

(around 18 mph).
