kev1952 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 My C5 has developed a fuel leak in the fuel return line. I know very little about this but would like to know how to fix it. I have attached pictures to show the location of the leak. Any help would be appreciated. ** Pics won't upload ** Link to Aussie Frogs pics. http://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/attachments/citro%EBn-forum/66068d1423696768-2007-c5-2-2-hdi-fuel-leak-20150212_084522.jpg Quote
paul.h Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 If the pipe has split a new one includes pipes to all the injectors, not just one, Citroen part no. 1574FX. If it is the o-ring seal at the injector, it is part no. 1607004980. To remove the return lines from the injectors, raise the top locks and then pull up. Quote
Porsche430 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 How to fix? Confirm where the leak is coming from 100% and replace. Always good to replace slightly more that is needed, so do seals and fuel return lines. Quote
kev1952 Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 Thank you both for your responses. The leak is from that pipe - are the pipes metal or plastic (not sure without pulling back sheathing)? And how are they disconnected? Looks to be a simple enough fix but want to be sure before I start dismantling. Quote
paul.h Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I think the pipes will be clear plastic and the black cover will just slide back so you can see the pipe. To remove the 4 return lines from the injectors, raise the top locks and then pull up the pipe fitting. I am not sure about the other end of the pipe but it may be obvious when you see it. There is one for sale on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Peugeot-Fuel-Return-Pipes-2-2-HDi-DW12-GENUINE-NEW-Part-No-1574FX-/251835406852?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3aa28f5a04Normal price is about £44 but you should also replace the O-rings (4 needed, 1 for each injector). kev1952 Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 Thanks everyone. I'm in the process of obtaining the parts now and will let you know how it comes out. Quote
kev1952 Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 As promised - got the part(s) and had them fitted by my local dealer. Almost had a heart attack at the price of the O-Ring that I had replaced (AU$60.00). How on earth can Citroen justify the price for a rubber ring that is about 1/4" in diameter? The hose set was reasonable at AU$95.00. Anyway it's all fixed and cost me a total of AU $282.00. Thanks to all for your advice. Quote
paul.h Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Are you sure the O-ring was rubber and not gold ? Just checked the exchange rate so the cost was about 140 UK pounds so if it is the only repair needed this year then not too bad. Quote

Ouch!!! I thought it must have been gold too. Quote
