I have a 2008 c4 Picasso 1.9 diesel,,it has been fine up til now but has developed an intermittent twitch on the steering....there is a rattling noise at the same time as the steering twitches to the right some times it last a second then sometimes 4 secs.. it does this randomly ..just driving in a straight line at 50mph it does it...so not under breaking  or acceleration..this doesn't make any more difference......but always to the right a visual inspection shows nothint obvious  ...any ideas anyone ???

Welcome to the forum.

The diesel engines I thought were 1.6 or 2.0 hdi.

You could possibly have a worn suspension joint or mounting (swivel/track rod end/steering rack), a problem inside the steering rack or power steering pump or maybe a worn driveshaft CV joint or a front wheel bearing. If your car is due for a MOT test soon, then these things should be checked then, but if it is some time off you are probably best to get a dealer to look at it unless you are able to do your own repairs/checks. Also check the wheel bolts are tightened to the correct torque (100 Nm) and the wheels and tyres are in good condition and if you have plastic wheel trims that these are not loose.
