From a wiring diagram in the French RTA manual for the C5 (X7), both wiper motors share most of the same wiring - a common earth, 2 connections between themselves, a supply (wire no. 9040 which splits to 9040D and 9040G - droit and gauche motors) from the engine fuse box, but there is a separate wire to each one from the engine fuse box (no. 500 and 501) from a relay 5 (fed from relay 4 and fuse F12) which seems to switch between these 2 wires. It does not show which motor is the master one.

So from this, possibly a failure of one motor may affect the other due to the connections between each other, but I am not sure. Due to the high cost of a motor it is a bit of a gamble buying one unless you can get a used one. For a RHD car, left motor is 6405LE and the right one 6405LA. There is info on this topic that suggests a problem with one motor will affect the other http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/21404-09-c5-windscreen-motor-replacement/

Thanks Paul. I do believe the master wiper is on the driver side. It's the master and passenger side is the slave. I am hoping this will be it cured when I get it changed. I can't complain at the price either as its a brand new valeo motor for £130
