paul.h Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Welcome to the forum. If the display is the one on top of the dash the bulbs at the back of it can be replaced. According to the Haynes manual, the surround is removed by prising up the lower edge and pulling it towards you, then undo the display screws so it can be removed. There are 3 bulbs in the back of it that can be removed by twisting the holders. Haynes does not give the type of bulb but this may be in your handbook. I have not had an auto gearbox C5 so I do not know where the auto lights are located. If they are in the speedo panel then Haynes says the lights in it are soldered LEDs and if these fail a new panel is needed. If you do go for a used panel, beware that the car will adopt the highest mileage of your existing speedo or the replacement one - so if your car has done 50k miles and the replacement panel has done 80k miles, your car will then show 80k miles but if you then refit your old panel it will stay at 80k miles. I have slightly altered the title to help when searching the forum. Quote
jezza53 Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 thanks i will try the 1st optoin the 2nd is the lights main come on auto when it gets dark or with the auto wipers this is now not happening poss fuse but cannot find any info in hand book ?any futher ideas Quote
paul.h Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 :) the headlights coming on automatically when it gets dark and not an automatic gearbox. Also the wipers working automatically when it is raining. Try the following to see if they help, if not let us know: For the auto lights and auto wipers to work the windscreen needs to be clean at the sensor at the top middle of the windscreen - so something to check. On the end of the lighting stalk there is a button - if you hold this in with the engine on (or maybe just the ignition switched on so the dash lights up) the auto lighting can be set on or off - a message will be given when it is set. There may be a position on the light switch also for the auto lights to work. For the wipers to work automatically the wiper switch needs to be in the auto position, the first position after off and before slow speed wiping. Quote
