mykle13 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Hi everyone. I have just replaced the the crankshft pulley on my brother's 2002 C5 2.0 HDI and noticed some slight damage to the key slot on the old pulley. the woodruff key on the shaft is slightly damaged. The new pulley is holding on the old key but we intend to change it on the next timing belt change BUT..... According to our Citroen database there are two keys - part nos 6976-06 and 6976-14 the latter one being the outer one. I know some C5's only use one krey????? Anybody got an idea on which one to get. I asked the local citroen parts dept who after much??? thinking suggested buying both which may the only option. Quote
paul.h Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Welcome to the forum. I guess you have looked at the Citroen parts diagrams to get the part nos. against the car VIN. It looks as if the 697614 key is the outer one which would do the crankshaft outer pulley and the inner one for the timing belt pulley is 697606. From the citroencarparts.net site, 697614 are £5.30 for 2 and 697606 are £24.80 for 10. Hopefully your Citroen dealer will sell you a single key for around £2.70, despite them having to buy a full pack. The parts diagrams also give a size of 13x6-7 for the 06 one and 18,5x6-6 for the 14 one which may help you. So it would appear you need the 697614 part. The petrol engines seem to be the ones that only have one key and that can be either of the above parts depending on the engine type. Quote
mykle13 Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Thanks for the prompt reply and the guideline prices. Your info is spot on with one exception .The outer one is 69714 and the inner 697606 BUT the Crankshaft outer pulley doesn't have a key way only a slot at the back which aligns with key which sticks out from the timing belt pulley. That's why I am confused! Isthe outer one for the timing belt pulley and inner one for the oil pump drive? Quote
paul.h Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 In the Haynes manual page 2F-10, there is a crankshaft/oil pump drive sprocket photo 11.5a which confirms what you have written but the keys look to overlap the pulleys. Quote
