Shane Peet Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Hi All, we have a red 2008 c5 tourer. It is a fantastic car, very comfortable and just great all round. It has done up to today 90,000 miles. But over the years we have had problems. When it was two years old both front window regulators broke and where replaced on warranty. The car had no problems after that till about 2 years ago, suddenly there was a loud noise from the clutch and that needed to be replaced, after 2 months when travelling at around 20mph sometimes the revs would suddenly drop for about 3 seconds then recover with a warning light on the dash. It turned out to be a faulty fuse box and that was replaced. About a year ago one of the day time lights went but we have not had it replaced. Last month the front passenger side window regulator broke again and was a costly 300+ fix. It is a great car but with it being an early model it does have its problems, I would recommend it to anyone. Quote
paul.h Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 If you have a look on the C5 technical section there is a pinned topic of Common Problems and it looks as if yours are listed apart from the clutch. There is also a post on replacing the day running light bulbs - these are around £40 each though but can be replaced with a struggle without needing to remove the bumper. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20984-daytime-running-lights-bulb-replacement-and-led-option/ Have a look at the steering rack for oil leaks since this is a common problem but might be prevented by greasing the column input shaft to prevent it rusting. Shane Peet Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 Hi Paul, thanks for that mate and the quick reply, not far from me, I'm in Newton-le-Willows. Quote
eddieC5 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Steering rack is a major issue...just got mine back from ACS POWER STEERING TAMWORTH 180 quid to rebuild it...find out soon enough if it worked..so far I've replaced all window regulators..air conditioning unit..3 out of 4 coil springs. Door hinge drivers side. Track Rod ends. Engine cooling fan..airline in all an awful car with truly awful citroen customer care. Quote
paul.h Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Citroen will often replace failed coil springs without charge if you ask your dealer. This was done on both our C3s - on the first a front one failed and the second a rear one failed. When they do this the springs on both sides are replaced to make sure they match. Quote
