Hello,

I am a new member and joined because i am hoping you can shed some light on some issues I am having with my relay.

I am not sure if it is an electrical fault or a fuel fault but it is incredibly slow 90% of the time and the other 10% is like a new van, also I have to bump it most mornings because it just turns over and turns over but doesnt kick in.

I had the plugs changed last time it happened and that helped for a few weeks, ive had it fully serviced to so unsure what i need to fix.

Any advice would be very much appreciated

Ant

Welcome to the forum.

Which engine does the van have and how many miles has it done ?

A blocked fuel filter could affect the performance so if it has not been replaced recently is something to consider.

Possible causes of poor starting could include:

- If the fuel filter has been replaced recently and there is an air leak the fuel could be draining back and cause difficult starting.

- If the engine temperature sensor is faulty it could be giving the wrong fuel/air ratio needed for starting.

- If there is a fuel pump in the fuel tank and that is not working that may give difficult starting.

- A worn engine could give low compression and poor starting.

- Blocked air filter.

- Engine not turning fast enough on the starter motor - battery voltage low/wiring fault/starter motor fault.

- Incorrect engine timing (belt jumped).

- EGR valve fault so not sealing - could also give smoke during running.
