Now our pride & joy has finally enjoyed its complete renaissance we find that although new 'cylinders' were installed, the engine 'back-fires' and stutters.  Does anyone know of a 2CV devotee in or around Taunton, Somerset who might cast a beagle eye? To stop the woof! woof! ??

Late Portugal F reg Jan '89. Was a red/white dolly but now a full Brittany Blue with matching new lid (Matt's Soft Tops).  Had the chassis galvenized when we first had it back in the '80's. Champagne leatherette seats and bench, piped in blue.

Would love to find a local 2CV doctor for 'just-in-case',

All info appreciated,  2CurriculumVitae

Welcome to the forum.

Haynes do a manual for the 2CV which ought to help. Back firing may be due to the fuel/air ratio not being correct, possibly due to an air leak or the timing out a bit or maybe the valve clearances being out - I would think the Haynes manual will show how to adjust these.

From a search, these people may be able to help http://the2cvshop.co.uk/

sounds like another coil breaking down, they tend to overheat mounted on the headlamp rail

I had this problem with mine and replaced it with an upgraded one from ecas apparently a Harley Davidson coil.

solved the poping and backfiring straight away. you could also undo the 13mm nut on the front of the carb and clean out the fuel filter screen, they are often ignored for many years because people tend to fit inline filters.
