henshaw Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Wish to replace MK1 2.2HDi cruise control switch on steering column with one from my old dead C5 2.2HDi. Can't see how the switch is fixed in place. How do I get it out? Quote
paul.h Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 This is from the Haynes manual, page 12.4, section 5. Undo the 2 screws and remove the steering column lower shroud, then release the clips and remove the upper shroud. Depress the clip each side to slide out the lower switches from the module (see illustration 5.5c) - this shows what looks like a plastic clip at the outer edge of the module on each side which seems to hold in the switches. henshaw Posted May 22, 2015 Author Posted May 22, 2015 Thanks. Have got lower shroud off, but couldn't see how to get top off yet alone get at switch. Better get Haynes manual - have avoided it in past as it doesn't/didn't deal with 2.2HDi. Quote
paul.h Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 You may not have to remove the top shroud to remove the switch, just see if the clip holding it in can be pushed so the switch can slide out. The clip is a bit like a hooked tag at the end of the switch where it fits to the module. I have not done this job so can only go by the photo in the Haynes. I would get the Haynes since it covers everything except the engine. For the engine you really need the Citroen service box dvds from ebay or possibly easydiagnostics and there is also the French RTA manual which is similar to Haynes but in French http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rta-654-1-Citro%C3%ABn-C5-Diesel/dp/2726865410/ref=sr_1_9?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1432306395&sr=1-9&keywords=citroen+c5 Quote
henshaw Posted May 24, 2015 Author Posted May 24, 2015 Got cruise control switch out. In the event, don't need to take top shroud (or steering wheel) off. The switch is held in by a small spring lever accessed from underneath using a small screwdriver to depress the lever. 'Tis not as shown in Haynes manual. To take radio controlling switch could be more complicated. Quote
henshaw Posted May 29, 2015 Author Posted May 29, 2015 Top shroud held in quite tightly by switches. Best to pull both switches out slightly if top shroud needs removing. Cruise control switch slid in easily on new C5 with top shroud in place. Quote
