Bailes1992 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I'm after some advice as to where to look for a leak in my Missus C3.I've had to rip out the majority of the interior and throw away all the underlay as it's all soaking wet.I've replaced both front seats but left the rest out to try help the car dry.I'm also concerned about rust as it's started to bubble. Luckily at the moment it's only surface rust so I will wire brush it all back and spray it all before I replace the interior. I also sprayed all the seams with WD40 to try displace any water.So...Passengers side front was soaking from the floor all the way up to the top of the bulkhead. I've not managed to remove the underlay up the bulkhead as it requires removal of the dash.Drivers side front was soaking on the floor but the bulkhead was totally dry.Anyone have any idea what may be causing it?Is there anything common to leak on these? It's a 5 door hatch and not a pluriel.http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g16/Bailes1992/20150528_112741_zpsqxwy6a2t.jpghttp://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g16/Bailes1992/20150528_112807_zpsftrhsozv.jpghttp://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g16/Bailes1992/20150531_161232_zpsoinwclts.jpgAny advice welcomed.Sam. paul.h Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Welcome to the forum. If you have kept the carpets out it may help you spot a leak when it is raining or with somebody spraying the car with a hose. I would check the bulkhead drains at the back of the front wings are not blocked with leaves and other debris, check the air con drain is not blocked or its drain hose has not come off, check the door and sill drains are not blocked, check if the windscreen has been replaced and not sealed properly, make sure the windows are closed (the rear ones if manual can gradually come down a bit), if you have a sunroof check its drains are not blocked and its seal is not leaking. If the internal door seals are damaged or not stuck this could allow water to run into the car - the Xsara Picasso is known for this. Something like talcum powder applied inside the car may help show up where the water gets in. Quote
The Goat Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 I've notice that the seal along the top of my windscreen isn't properly fitted between the roof and glass. For all I know it may be cosmetic, and the windscreen bonded to the body, but maybe not. I haven't noticed water ingress from there, but then I haven't had the car long or looked for a leak. Just a thought... Quote
