I Like Citroen Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 (edited) HI, Power steering gone - took car to a garage who has said the pump needs replacing.Quoted as follows (all +vat).Pump 593.48Labour (2 hrs) 96.00Computer programming 40.002.5 L Fluid 36.40 Sub Total 765.88VAT 153.80Total 919.06 I asked if they could use a second hand pump...they said no, as it won't program to the car (if that's true why is there a market in second hand pumps?) paul.h Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 There is nothing in the Haynes manual about diagnostic work when replacing the power steering pump, whether the belt driven one or the electric one and it does not seem too difficult to do. I would get a copy of the Haynes manual to help you understand any work needed on the car. So I would suspect you could fit a used part with no bother. You probably would not need all that lds fluid if you plug the pipes when disconnected since it would not be lost. The pump in your link is for a belt driven one, so definitely no diagnostic work. Maybe the garage were thinking about the suspension pump. Quote
