paul.h Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 There is some info on the outside air intake in the following copied from the C5 Common Problems topic but to get to it the windscreen scuttle has to be removed: 12. Wet driver's footwell, mark 1 C5 (2001 TO 2004 model), mark 2 C5 (2004 to 2008 model) and mark 3 C5 (2008 on model).Rain from the windscreen and the middle grommet of the wiper arm drips in to the cabin air intake, runs down the inside of the cabin firewall and soaks the carpet. It is a bad design of the air intake, not carried over to the mark 2 C5. I fixed this on our hatchback by putting a plate under the wiper grommet over the air intake to direct water away, put holes in the air intake to drain water before reaching the firewall, used lots of sealant behind the holes and at the firewall. This problem has also been reported on the mark 2 C5 due to a build up of debris below the bulk head - see this topic from Mike Lane http://www.citroen-o...ess/#entry85106 This problem has also been reported on the mark 3 C5 - see this topic http://www.citroen-o...ter-getting-in/ Quote
tampenny Posted August 2, 2015 Author Posted August 2, 2015 Paulhave now checked the outside air intake and all is fine no blockages at all,i slightly opened the flap that goes between that and the motor and it wasblowing like a tornado,am now even more convinced i need to somehow get behind the matrices !!thank you for your continued support, Quote
MikeLane Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) Just a thought but does the blower work any better when A/C is switched to recirculate internal air (i.e. block off the external air supply)? Edited August 2, 2015 by MikeLane Quote
tampenny Posted August 4, 2015 Author Posted August 4, 2015 Just a thought but does the blower work any better when A/C is switched to recirculate internal air (i.e. block off the external air supply)? Mike, nope afraid not, it blows the same on all settings, but after i have put the air re circulation on it won't then turn off.....!!!!so don't know if that may be of some relevance ?? also, please tell me is the system meant to intake air from under the windscreen ?because when i had the scuttle off the flap between there and the blower motor wasn'topening when i put the blower on ??it's all confusing stuff....... paul.h Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 The flap between the outside air intake below the windscreen and the blower will be the recirculation flap - so it will either be in the position to let in outside air or the position so inside air is circulated, depending on the setting on the control panel (unless it is faulty). Maybe when you had the scuttle removed it was set to recirculation. Quote
tampenny Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 Paul, this just gets more bizarre by the day !!i turned the temperature up to full and the air came flowing through the ventsbut as you lower the temp the air flow reduces too, that surely makes no sense ???there is a pint and a packet of peanuts for the person who cracks this !! tampenny Posted September 6, 2015 Author Posted September 6, 2015 SORTED !!!!!a big thank you to one and all,the air intake flap was stuck in the closed position,a firm finger soon opened it,decided to have the pint and peanuts and twiglets myself todayto celebrate, bless you all. Quote
paul.h Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Well done, apart from your time, fortunately it has not cost anything in parts. Quote
