thestig137 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Hi I have a Citroen c5 2l hdi(diesel) when I start it up it says 2850 on dash,could anybody please explain what that is,thanks Quote
paul.h Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Welcome to the forum. What year is your car ? Where abouts on the dash is this number ? Depending on your answer, possibilities could be the miles to the next service, or maybe the miles since the trip counter was reset. If miles to the next service, this will reduce each day on starting by 50 if close to the 2 year frequency of servicing (frequency depending on year/model of car) or by the miles done. Quote
thestig137 Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Hi car is 2002,numbers are coming up by trip computer, already reset trip computer, stop warning light comes on and stays on,it beep's 3 times every so often, checked oil and water all topped up, Quote
paul.h Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Is this the trip computer the multi function screen one or the one on the speedo ? If the one on the speedo it will be the distance to the next service or if a spanner symbol stays on will be the distance covered since the service should have been done. If the latter then that would explain the beeps and possibly the stop message but if not have a look in the handbook for other possibilities such as the front brake pads being worn or low battery voltage. If it has been serviced recently the service interval can be reset by holding in the speedo trip mileage button and then turning on the ignition so the dash lights up, the counter will count down and when it shows =0 the button can be released and the engine started if desired. Resetting the service interval is covered in the handbook. Quote
thestig137 Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 Thanks for your help, its booked in the garage next weekend, Quote
paul.h Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Does this mean it is the service indicator and the car is overdue a service ? Quote
thestig137 Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 Don't no.the breaks are a bit low anyway (hear the binding after its been parked for a couple of days)so was gonna get them sorted and see if that fixes the problem, while its there will get them to plug it in and see what else needs doin,.will let you no the out come Quote
thestig137 Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 Hi that problems been solved, was break wear indicator cable,But now it has gone into limp mode?? Quote
paul.h Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 You will need to use a code reader to see why it is in limp mode. Since your car is a 2002 diesel, low cost code readers are unlikely to work on it since EOBD was not required on diesels until 2004. So that leaves you probably needing to use a dealer for a diagnostic check at about the cost of 1 hours labour. Quote
