parkeyx Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 i have a bx 1.9 diesal on a L reg.i have posted a problem on here before and some good dude got back to me the same day. nice one m8! you was right! the next problem is my engine wont turn off. i have to stall it. now i know theres a cut off on the pump. will it definitely be the fuel cut off solenoid that is faulty. what is the best way to test it. could it be on the key side .i.e no feed from the ignition barrel to the fuel cut off? any help would be greatly appreciated. yet again lol Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Usual problem with solenoids is that they won't open, so the engine doesn't start. It sounds as though your plunger is sticking and when the power is turned off, it doesn't spring back. You'll have to remove it to see. Quote
kfk Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Probably worth getting a replacement fuel pump cut off solenoid so you only have to get your hands dirty once.....pretty sure you can get them from other places than citroen. It isnt unnusual for a bit of crap to get stuck between the plunger and solenoid causing it to stick either open or closed.....the alternative is the spring inside the plunger may have failed....not heard of it before but theres always a first time. according to CITISPARES price solenoid is about £40.00 Quote

parkeyx Posted October 13, 2006 Author Posted October 13, 2006 cheers people. i sorted it. i pulled the solenoid out and i noticed the rubber plunger was split. lucky enough a local scrapyard had the same model car .the plunger looked in good condition. i have changed it over and its working fine. thanks very much!
