Good afternoon. My poor old 2006 VTR Estate has been rear ended. It's repairable but the costs are more than the value, the car is worth a lot to me. Does anyone know of a MK1 tailgate and rear bumper will fit onto my MK2. I know the MK1 bumper looks different with the central moulding but will it fit. I have tried to locate second hand rear bumper and tailgate but no luck for a MK2. I have found MK1 parts and would have a go at using these if they are compatible. Any advise would be gratefully received, many thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

The tailgate seems to have the same part number. Register on the service.citroen site as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club and you can see the parts diagrams and see which parts are the same http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres

Has the insurance company written the car off, if so they will only value it at scrap value unless you have it checked over after it is repaired or is repaired by a bodyshop. As a minimum they will require a MOT test to show it is roadworthy but it would likely still be valued as scrap. Is there more damage than just the bumper and tailgate since I would have thought just these 2 things on their own would not write it off ? You could also consider negotiating with the insurance company to use used parts to get the repair cost down.

Thanks very much for the reply. Mine is a 2006 and the parts I've found from a 2003. Do you think the rear bumper would also fit, I know it looks different. Mine has done a lot of miles so is only worth about £1000 hence it being beyond economical repair, however with these parts I will be able to get it repaired.
