I have a 2012 C1 and I have a recurring problem of my stereo not turning off.

Like most cars, it's supposed to turn off when the key is taken out, but it's stopped doing that and I have to male sure it's turned off every time I leave the car and I'm also worried it could drain my battery as it's on all night.

I've only had the car for 5 months and this has happened a few times now and often sorts itself out. However, this time it still won't turn off.

I had a black box for my insurance fitted in a few months ago and I never had this problem before. I have an engineer from the insurance company coming out to check it but it's costing me a fair amount of money and if it's not their fault, it'll cost me more to get it fixed.

I just wanted to ask if this is a common problem on C1s and whether it can be fixed easily?

Welcome to th eforum.

We once had a radio that did something similar on a different car and I think it turned out there was a bit of dirt holding the switch in place so you could see if yours is clean. However, it could be something to do with the box.

Does it also happen if the radio is switched off before the engine is stopped ?

The radio should also be turned off by the eco mode which after up to about 30 minutes after the engine is switched off, turns off things like the radio and internal lights to prevent the battery going flat if they are left on or a door is left open.
