carcats Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Hello all, I've owned a 07 MK2 C5 for one year. It's a hatchback with 2.0L petrol engine with 4AT. The front suspension refused to raise anymore recently so I turned to google and found this forum with plenty of helpful posts related to my problem. Finally I decided to try to switch the front struts, thankfully the suspension is OK now. I still have one silly question as a new owner. My car has only 4 spheres which may be a standard H3 system. After my car was parked overnight, its front will always sink 1-2cm, but will raise to normal height when it's unlocked. Is it normal or needs to be checked for problems? Thank you all for those helpful information shared with me. Quote
paul.h Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Welcome to the forum. Sinking this small amount is probably normal and our C5 and our previous one also did do it but it is/was all the car and not just one end. If left on a morning and it was a hot day, the suspension would be slightly higher later in the day so it could be related to temperature changes. If it was to sink more than this then there could be a leak in a strut. However, you could check the lds fluid level (with the car at the lowest height the lds fluid should just cover the tank strainer bottom) and also take the car up and down a few times using the suspension height button to bleed out any air (and exercise the height sensors) and have a look for any leaks.
