Staffbull Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Hi just bought a C5 1.6 hdi today, sure I'll be about to discuss things :-) Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 What's the mileage? Keep up to date with oil changes otherwise you'll get turbo trouble. Quote
Staffbull Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 What's the mileage? Keep up to date with oil changes otherwise you'll get turbo trouble.101k its a 55 plate, I usually run wynns engine flush in all new cars to the house, drop in cheap oil run for 50 miles, drop that and refill with the good stuff.Anyone use engine flush on these and is it OK?Its a "Design" and has the adjustable suspension, nicest ride ive had since my XJ Jag !!!!Everything works, no nasty warnings etc, Paid £900 for t, very pleased TBH its immaculateAnother route Ive taken with all diesels is to decat, this had dpf/fap so its new as to the delete, Im quite happy around MPPS galletto etc and coded my golf MK4 dash hexadecimal to enable the audi hidden goodies. Any info on the DPF delete would be handy, Also any generic economy maps extra 20HP would be just fineWhat is the Vagcom equivalent for Citroen (OBD Dongle) ? Thanks Quote
Staffbull Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 Also, what oil please and quantity, I'll get it ordered Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 The recommended oil is 5W/30 low saps fully synthetic oil. You'll need 3.75 ltrs. As for removal of the particle filter, since it is both illegal and likely to fail an MOT, the forum admin don't encourage it or offer advice. Quote
MikeLane Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 "The recommended oil is 5W/30 low saps fully synthetic oil."I use Total Quartz INEO 5W @ £20.79 for a 5l. can from Parks (as recommended by Citroen). . Quote
coastline taxis Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 if youve got a 1.6hdi and use ANYTHING OTHER than low saps fully synthetic oil your heading for trouble with your turbo. google 1.6 hdi turbo trouble. also remaping a 1.6 for extra bhp isnt a good idea as the turbo wont take it. the 1.6 is a good economical engine when serviced correctly and in a small car but is a c5 it has a lot of weight to pull around so the turbo does all the work. Also a good flush every oil change and once every 2 year pull the sump and turbo oil feed pipe off and give it a good clean out. youd be a fool to ignore john,s or mike,s advice regarding the oil Quote
Staffbull Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 Fetching triple QX low saps from ECP tomorrow along with bosch air/oil/fuel/cabin filters.Going to drop this oil, guy had t serviced 5k ago (12k is a no go IMO) put cheapo mineral in it with Forte flush, flush that and fill with the good stuff.I agree on the economy, very surprised at 62mpg on the computer, if that equated to 55 real life I'll be happy!EGR blanking plate also on the way :-)Ive read the turbo oil feed pipe is a bitch? exhaust off ?Might take the DPF off and give it a pressure wash though Quote
coastline taxis Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 dpf are so easy to clean on them it just splits in 2. and its the filter in the oil feed pipe that needs either throwing away or cleaning regulary Quote

Staffbull Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 What is the best diagnostic cable for them? Lexia or PP2000 ? I well versed with Vagcom Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 There's lots of Chinese cloned Lexias on ebay, some working better than others and it's reported that one of them won't even work on C5s. Although I haven't dealt with them, the machine from http://easydiagnostics.co.uk/#/shop/4590186381/lexia-3-diagbox-for-citroen-peugeot/10015520 gets good mentions. Quote
