tsprint9 Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Hello folks, Had a 2.0Hdi Pic from new in 2001 - brilliant car, never any problem for 12 years. Wife has an 04 2.0Hdi Exclusive - lovely. Changed my Pic to an 07 1.6HDi Desire FAP 18 months ago - now a problem. Any advice appreciated? EML came on and searching forum suggested I tried changing fuel filter - did so and it was fine for 2 weeks - now (when hot - see below) under high load suddenly cuts engine and on comes EML. Engine will restart but engine wiil not rev above tickover. Touch the accelerator and it dies completely again. Code shown is P1092 , bit once after restarting the car about 15 times in a row and moving it at 1 mph to get if off a clearway dual carriageway it also showed P1350 and P1351 which I assume was cos of all the trauma I put it through!! If code cleared - car runs fine if not given full throttle/load. Wait a few minutes 10? and it starts, revs and drives fine (EML on) until given full welly/load and then repeats as before. Left car to go cold and this morning - started fine first turn as usual - revs fine and I took it up to rev limit in first and second gear, full load and nothing untoward at all. Will try it through the gears tomorrow, and then when hot, to see if it appears temperature related. Carrying cheap OBD2 code reader in the car now!! Code reader says fault is glow plugs??? What do the experts think? Quote
paul.h Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Welcome to the forum. An internet search on P1092 seems to be a manufacturer specific code but it may be fuel trim too lean - possibly there is a lambda sensor fault or maybe an air leak. You need to look at live data to check the lambda sensor. A cheap code reader may not have Citroen specific codes so might suggest the wrong cause of a fault. What code reader are you using ? Things that change when the engine is hot include the cam and crank sensors, the egr valve, the temperature sensors. If you are going to start replacing parts you would be better getting a dealer to do a diagnostic with the right equipment to save replacing parts that are ok. Quote
