arak81 Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 I can hear a clicking sound when i press the lock button from the driver side control switch. but it doesn't lock the windows. My small baby plays around with the windows while she is back of the car. can anyone quickly direct me how to lock the windows from driver side control panel switches? thank you. Quote
paul.h Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 You have already posted your driver's door window switch is not working so my previous reply still applies: 1. Possibly there is a switch fault such as it needs cleaning internally or replacing or depending on what the symptoms are, there is a wiring fault such as where it goes between the door and body. arak81 Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 Hi Paul. h....its not that one that I posted. That problem was connection problem and i have taken the switch panel off and put that back, now works fine. but this is safety issue...i mean i can hear the sound of locking the windows but still its not locking..so must be some set up in the menu needs to be adjusted i am guessing. arak81 Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 I realise that my child safety gets activated and straight to deactivated when i press the control locking button from driver's door.hence the windows are not locking..even when i start driving the car i can hear the clicking sound.it locks the doors to be opened from outside...how can I make it lock from inside..it seems i got too many problems. paul.h Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 The door locks can only be locked against opening from the inside by deadlocking them. Having the locks auto locking when above 6 mph only prevents them from being opened from the outside. You would not want the doors to be unopenable from the inside when you are in the car and part of the MOT test is to make sure the doors open from the inside. From memory, the driver's door switch has a switch at the back that is in an up or a down position - in one of these positions it should deactivate the rear door mounted electric window switches. If this is not working then maybe there is a fault with the switch or its wiring or connector. Edited, see post 9, it should be possible to disable the rear door locks and windows. Quote
arak81 Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 I couldn't figure out whats the wrong. When i press the rear button of the master control panel i can hear the sound of Child safety activation and promptly i hear another sound of child safety deactivation. So I can guess that button is al right as its responding. even all the other buttons for the windows also work. i need somehow my rear driver side door disable from opening inside and also windows movement. I red the manual and it says there should be a lever..it didn't say clearly where the lever is located though...anyway, i checked the door's side where normally other car has the lever to disable the door opening from inside. But couldn't find anything. I am sure that even though car has electric child safety on which is not working at the moment it should have some manual way to disable the door from opening inside too. can anyone here help me please. paul.h Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I repeat, it is not possible to stop the doors being opened from the inside unless you dead lock the doors. This is done by 2 pushes on the key remote lock button and also from the outside by 2 turns of the key in the lock. If you do this though, the only way to open any of the doors is to use the remote unlock button or the key in the door lock and if for some reason somebody wanting to open a door from the inside could not get to the remote key (or it developed a fault) they would need to open or break a window and climb out of the window. Years ago cars used to have a button at the top of the door card that would be pushed down to lock a door or pulled up to unlock it but these are no longer used. I do not know how many people you normally have in the back of your car, but have you considered using the child/baby seat fastened in the middle of the rear seat rather than at one side - then the child would not be able to reach the doors. To disable a window switch you could try pulling the switch out of the door card and then unplugging its electrical connector but tie it up so it can not drop inside the door. See post 9, it should be possible to disable the rear doors and windows. Quote
arak81 Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 it is possible to lock back two doors from being opened from inside with the child safety control button from the driver's door control panel. I took the car to halfword auto centre and the guy pressed hard for little longer and Child safety seemed activated and thenI tried to open back two doors and they were disabled but still the windows were moving. i need to disable the windows too. i could do these from my Kia Picanto 2005 model car. I don't know if anything wrong with my car. in the manual it says doors can be locked so as windows with Child Safety Lock button. Quote
paul.h Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I have looked in a 2006 to 2008 C4 handbook and on page 90 it has a section on child safety and this is different to my previous posts and seems to be what you are looking for. I have now edited my posts above. It says the rear door locks can be manually locked using the lever - the picture shows it is the one down the edge of the door near the lock and is usually covered by a round sticker. Use a key or screwdriver in the aperture to turn it so it is horizontal. It says the rear door symbol lights up on the dash with the ignition on if the manual lever is used. If using this method you might have to do it every time you close the door but I am not certain since I have never used this on any of our cars.It also mentions using the driver's door window switch to stop the rear window switches working and the rear doors opening from the inside - so it looks as if your switch is not working properly. You say when you try it you hear the locks locking but then bouncing back unlocked straight away - when using central locking this is a sign if one of the doors is not closed. Is your central locking working ? With the ignition on does your dash indicate if the doors are open and if so are any of the rear doors being shown as open when they are closed ? Quote
arak81 Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 My central locks seems work fine. i asked someone to lock the door using central locking button and I tried to open them from outside..none of the door was opening. but they all were opening from inside. all of my doors are of course closed while trying to use master lock button from driverside. as i said that halford guy has managed to enable Child safety using the button by pressing hard and long. but still the windows were opening using their own buttons from the doors. In the manual it says Child safety lock button prohibits movement of the rear electric windows and rear passenger doors. arak81 Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 Problem has been sorted guys. I bought another window switch panel (2nd hand from breakeryard by £54) and it works for child lock and serve my purpose..but still my rear passenger side windows gives me trouble..it doesn't respond sometime. even this problem was exist with my previous window switch panel. I don't know what could cause this issue..oh by the way, the quality of the switches in citroen c4 if damn poor. the switch is sticky and feels like the rubber/plastic will come off when I was trying to clean it. still it feels sticky.
