Looking at the specs, fuel consumption, top speed etc, there seems to be very little difference between the 92bhp and the 110bhp variants. That's on paper, any experiences of the two in reality. Does the 92bhp feel underpowered?

All our C4s have had the 110 bhp engine and they have performed well. Being used frequently for long motorway journeys the higher power has been a requirement when buying. You may find the 92 bhp ones are often used by fleets so there will be more of them available and the price should be lower than the 110 bhp ones due to the lower specs.

The availability of each engine seems to vary with the model year looking at a 2005 and a 2009 sales brochures.

The 2005 has the 92 engine with the LX/VT and SX/VTR models and the 110 engine with the SX/VTR and VTR+ models.

The 2009 has the 92 engine with VTR coupe only and the 110 engine with the SX hatchback, the VTR+ hatch and coupe. It is also with the egs gearbox ones.

Went from a 90BHP XSara to a 110 C4 - huge difference! It may have been due to more than the 20BHP difference, but the 90 felt underpowered, the 110 has a decent amount of power - I'd be happy with it and I'm used to a Passat 2.0 TDi 140.
