jon van der peyl Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Hi Everyone, I am Jon in Perth, W Australia and a new member.Looking forward to interesting discussion and fun stories As an "anti-dote' against our Bmw and Saab, I just bought a 2004 C3 Pluriel 1.6My wife did not think I needed it But it is such a funny , quirky car an reminds me very much of the worn-out 2CV s we used to drive all over Europe in our early days. Climate here is perfect for topless cruising. Sound system so good. Also not rust problems in our very dry climate, as long as there is a roof over the parking in case of rain (not enough here) Dealership is pretty bad and un-interested in keeping Clients happy I gather, they are mainly after the money in an arrogant way. This way Citroen does not have very good name I believe, not smart really. Many new car owners sell soon because excessive repair bills. So I will join the local Citroen club here and will look for a knowledgeable and reliable mechanic, there must be one around somewhere. Have some questions to : 1/Is there a good workshop manual for the Pluriel? Best to get on eBay ? 2/ My gear shifter stopped to operate the senso driveSo now I reverse (a la 2CV, ha , ha ) with foot out of the door.Neutral engages when motor is running and do the rest with the paddles. Auto button on mid console still works. Any Suggestions ? How to open up the mid console ? Many thanks Nice to be here Jon Quote
paul.h Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Welcome to the forum. We have other members from Australia and if you post a topic on here or a more local forum (Aussie Frogs ?) you may get recommendations on mechanics/garages. The best manual to get is the Citroen service box which comes on 3 dvds to install on your pc and covers all Citroen models. ebay is a good source for this. It includes the workshop procedures, parts diagrams and wiring diagrams. I had a few high mileage Saabs before Citroens but found I was spending all my weekends fixing them whereas the Citroens have been low mileage and have not been much more than normal servicing. Citroens also tend not to rust compared to other makes. You can see the parts diagrams as a free service on the service.citroen site if you register as an other professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres . Use your VIN (VIS) top left to find your car. To remove the central console the service box procedure for the normal gear box is as follows and may apply to your car and a look at the parts diagrams will help (look under Equipment, Fascia panel assembly, Panel on dashboard):Remove :The rear cover at the back end and then the revealed nutThe handbrake trim/gaiter - should just pull offThe gear lever gaiterThe small cover at the front end below the heater controls and then the revealed boltsDisconnect the connectors from the following components :The cigar lighterThe window winder buttonsRemove the central console. I do not know what is wrong with the gear controls, maybe it is a problem with the selector lever. Possibly a diagnostic check using the Citroen Lexia will indicate the fault. Chinese copies of the Lexia are available to install on a lap top and if you look on the C8 and Petrol, Diesel, LPG sections Simple has some experience using and installing one and there are pinned notes on this.
