danieljw Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 i guys, just stumbled upon this forum after just purchasing a 2002 citroen c5. the car has good service history but like all my cars, i service them myself. i thought there was no hard in giving the c5 a small interim service, filters and oil. oil / filter and air filter was no problem untill i came to the fuel filter.. the shop sold me a BOSCH filter as i have a BOSCH fuel system, as it tuens out i needed a SIEMENS fuel filter... is this a common thing? has the housing been changed? was 2002 (52) a change over year? Thank you in advance, Daniel. Quote
paul.h Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Welcome to the forum. Some of the early cars had a diesel fuel filter that had a bimetal strip element in them that altered the fuel flow direction within the filter depending on temperature. These were prone to failing and stopping the cars when cold. There was a case were coastline taxis had a car in the workshop which ran ok but once outside in the cold would cut out and it took some effort before the cause was found. You may find some parts evolve over the years but the main change was a face lift in 2004. Have a look at the Common Problems pinned topic in the C5 technical section for some things to look out for.
